Description:
The first reference to a public school at Green Ponds was in the Board of Education annual report for 1854. Prior to this, there were various other assisted schools in the township. D Bell was the first teacher in 1854 and 43 pupils were listed in attendance.;;;;In 1895 the school was renamed Kempton in keeping with the change in name of the town, though this would appear to have been in usage at least as early as 1877.;;;;
