Description:
The boundaries of Westbury township were defined in December 1823. It was initially a military station, the area becoming a Police District in 1835. The Municipal Council was established in 1863.;;;;As part of the reorganisation of local government in Tasmania the municipalities of Westbury and Deloraine were amalgamated to form the municipality of Meander Valley, apart from a small area of Prospect which was absorbed by the City of Launceston.
