Description:
Established as the Municipality of Table Cape. Following a petition, the name was changed from Table Cape to Wynyard in Oct 1945. (See Tas Gov Gazette 1 Oct 1945 p 2193, 18 Oct 1945 p2313.) As part of the reorganisation of local government in Tasmania the municipalities of Wynyard and Waratah were amalgamated.~
