Description:
Carrick is located on the banks of the Liffey River, 17 kms from Launceston between the towns of Hadspen and Hagley. A government school was built in 1873 next to the recreation ground. The building was erected by contractors Messrs Humphrey and Roe. Two thirds of the cost of the construction was paid for by the government and the rest was contributed by the district. The opening of the new Carrick Public School was celebrated with a concert in January 1874.
