Create databases and maps of mineral resources and geology. Supervise the transport, storage and use of dangerous goods. Assess groundwater resources and advise on landslips, geological hazards and engineering geology.;; The title of the Mines Division was changed to reflect the corporate style of the new agency, Tasmania Development and Resources. Internally it was also known as the Industry Safety and Mines Division of TDR until March 1996 when responsibility dangerous goods, occupational health and safety, rehabilitation and workers' compensation were transferred to a new Workplace Standards Authority.;;;;Since 1998, Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT) has been a Division of the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources. The purpose of MRT is to give effect to government policy in relation to minerals and petroleum resources and provide information for land management in Tasmania. Its focus is to produce and promote up-to-date geoscientific information on Tasmania as an aid to the mineral and petroleum exploration industries, other government agencies and the general public.
