The Tasmania Together Community Leaders Group was appointed by the Premier, Jim Bacon MHA, in consultation with the other political parties, in May 1999. The group was established following a public nomination process in which some 140 names were put forward from a broad variety of large and small organisations, plus many private individuals. The final size of the group was 20 members. The result of the work undertaken by the Community Leaders Group was the production of the 'Tasmania Together Vision, Goals and Benchmarks - a 20 year social, environmental and economic plan for the State.';;
