With effect from 1 December 1999 the regulation of racing was restructured by transferring the provision of administrative and financial services to the three racing codes to the Tasmanian TAB and assigning the regulatory functions of the former authority to the Director of Racing.;;;;Racing Services Tasmania operated as an administrative unit of the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.;;;;As from I January 2005 the powers of RST in relation to stewards was extended and it assumed responsibility for a range of matters previously handled by the Councils of the individual racing Codes such as handicapping and grading for harness and greyhound races.;;;;As of 1 July 2015, according to State Service Restructuring Order (No. 3) 2015 and the Administrative Arrangements Order 2015, Racing Services Tasmania was renamed the Office of Racing Integrity. It was also transferred from the Department of State Growth to the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment.;;;;The Office continues to be responsible for maintaining the probity and integrity of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing in Tasmania. The General Manager of Racing Integrity is appointed to the statutory role of Director of Racing.
