Description:
The Service was formed by the amalgamation of the Community and Rural Health Division with parts of the Health Advancement Division. It was known as the Community Population and Rural Health Division until November 2008. Due to organisational restructuring within the Department it was renamed Mental Health and Statewide Services, but soon modified to Statewide and Mental Health Services. Mental Health Services addresses the specific needs of people with mental health and alcohol and drug problems and/or people within the correctional and justice system. It also funds a wide range of community services and directly delivers the following specialist services. Services are delivered regionally within the following service streams: Mental Health Service, Alcohol and Drug Service, Forensic Mental Health Service, and Correctional Primary Health Service. The Service also funds the delivery of a range of residential, support and recovery services that are delivered by community sector organisations.
