In 1988 the Act created Workers Compensation divisions in Courts of requests to deal with disputes. The law was reformed in 1995 to replace that jurisdiction with an independent statutory Tribunal to determine all disputes relating to workers compensation in Tasmania. Any dispute must be referred to the Tribunal, which holds conciliation conferences and hearings throughout the State in order resolve the dispute by agreement, or arbitrate when agreement cannot be reached between the parties.;;;;The Commissioners must be legal practitioners of at least 5 years standing.;;
