To enable adequate links between the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Authority (TDIA) and the dairy industry a Dairy Industry Advisory Board (DIAB) was established under provisions in Part 4 of the Dairy Industry Act 1976. The Board's inaugurial meeting was held in Februrary 1978. TDIA provided administrative support for the Board.;;;;Under the Dairy Industry Act 1977 provision was made for DIAB to cease to exist 12 months after the Act's proclamation on 1st January 1978. With the cessation of DIAB in January 1979 TDIA decided to introduce a system of quarterly meetings of relevant representatives to provide continued formal liaison and communication with the dairy industry.
