Description:
The Tasmanian Herd Improvement Organisation (THIO) was formerly wound up in 1988 when its Board was dissolved under the Herd Improvement Amendment Act. THIO's role was transferred to the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Authority (TDIA) where a Herd Improvement Division & Advisory Board was established at the beginning of 1989. This soon became known in short as the Herd Improvement Division (HID) in the TDIA's annual reports.;;;;The Dairy Industry Amendment Act 2000 removed the Authority's market milk regulation powers and consequently TDIA's pool operations ceased. At this time the Herd Improvement Division was closed with Parliamentary approval for the Division's herd recording operation given to TasHerd pty ltd to service.
