As a result of the State Government's Tasmania Tomorrow initiative, the Tasmanian Polytechnic commenced in 2009 as one of the new education and training providers for post Year 10 students.;;;;Subsequently Newstead College became a campus providing courses only for the Tasmanian Academy.
