The previous scheme (See TA981) was abolished in 1964.;;;;The new Official Visitors Scheme was made-up of of people around the state from outside the public service who were charged with reviewing the care and treatment of individuals and the adequacy of the treatment facilities, measured against the National Mental Health Standards.;;;;From the start of the 2009/2010 financial year the function was transferred to the Ombudsman's Office.
