Skills Tasmania is Tasmania's State Training Authority, developing strategies and providing support, advice and opportunities and funding to deliver quality training to meet the needs of Tasmanians in industries.;;;;During 2008, a key role for Skills Tasmania was to purchase all publicly-funded;;vocational education and training services from the Tasmanian Polytechnic and;;Tasmanian Skills Institute. Under the agreed arrangements, Skills Tasmania would enter into a memorandum of understanding with each institute. The MOUs would provide for agreed outputs and outcomes, funding arrangements and outcome performance standards against which each intuition's performance would be assessed.;;;;Skills Tasmania is, from 1 July 2013, a business unit within the Department of Education. The Skills Tasmania general manager is responsible for the operations of Skills Tasmania and is accountable to the Secretary.;;;;From 1 July 2014 Skills Tasmania became a unit within the new Department of State Growth.
