Tasmanian Health Organisation (THO) - South was a statutory authority, created and governed by the Tasmanian Health Organisations Act 2011. It commenced operations on 1 July 2012, superseding the previous southern area service within the Department of Health and Human Services.;;;;The primary function of the THO was to improve, promote, protect and maintain the health of Tasmanians. It did this by managing public hospitals, health institutions, health services and health support services.;;;;From 1 July 2015 health services in Tasmania were restructured by merging the three THOs into one heatlh system, the Tasmanian Health Service (THS).
