At the March 2018 election the Government made a commitment to restore Libraries to the name of LINC Tasmania, and as a result LINC Tasmania was renamed Libraries Tasmania. Libraries Tasmania is a statewide library and archive service. It provides a collection of lending items, including books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, audio-books and eResources; online resources, including databases and heritage collections. Through the Tasmanian Archives, the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts and the Crowther Collection; Libraries Tasmania preserves Tasmania's documentary heritage, colonial paintings, photographs, rare books, manuscripts, decorative arts and furniture. Libraries Tasmania also provides support and access to computers, space for various study, recreation and group activities and a variety of programs, services and events for adults, children and young people.;;;;Within Libraries Tasmania, the Office of the State Archivist supports state and local government, government business enterprises, state owned companies and the University of Tasmania in meeting their accountability requirements under the Archives Act 1983.
