The Tasmanian College of Advanced Education (TCAE) was established under the Advanced Education Act 1968 to provide post-secondary education, particularly with regard to training people for the professions.;;;;The TCAE was administered by the Council of Advanced Education. The Council's role was broadranging in regards to the TCAE, being responsible for staffing, managing the College premises and property, and the appointment of the Principal and Registrar of the TCAE.;;;;Under the Advanced Education Amendment Act 1985 the TCAE became the Tasmanian State Institute of Technology.
