Description:
Norman Plomley established the Tasmanian Aboriginal Research Trust in 1979. The Trust, based at the State Library of Tasmania, aimed to develop a definitive collection of documentary and associated materials relating to the Tasmanian Aborigines, supporting research into, and publishing materials on the Tasmanian Aborigines, and for certain other purposes.;;Insurmountable personal differences with State Library board members resulted in the dissolution of the trust by an Act of Parliament in 1984. Reconstituted as the Plomley Foundation, the Trust is now administered by the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG).
