To acquire and develop land for settlement.;;;;The 1900 Report of the Secretary of the Lands Department referred to the desirability of acquiring property for closer settlement. The Land for Settlement Act was passed in 1901 and the Board appointed in 1902 but no progress was made until in 1905 it acquired Rookwood Estate, Gordon. ;;;;In 1906 the Board was replaced by a similar Board under a more comprehensive statute.;;;;
