The management, on request, of the estates of deceased persons; and the managment in certain cases of the affairs of persons unable to manage their own affairs (including most Mental Health patients and nearly all Missing Persons).;;;;As part of a general re-organisation of the Tasmanian State Service, on 17 July 1989, the Office was amalgamated with the Treasury to form a new Department of Finance. The Public Trust Office operated as a Division of the Department, and of its successor Department of Treasury and Finance.;;;;Under the Government Business Enterprise Act 1995 the Office was scheduled as an enterprise known as the 'Public Trustee'.
