Improve the standard of management of the introduction of information technology by requiring agencies to prepare EDP strategic plans. Cabinet had decided, in May 1986, to dramatically reduce the workload of the former Computer Policy Advisory Committee and continue it, without the technical members, as an interim measure. The ICPAC progressively delegated its powers to heads of agencies and in February 1989 submitted a report recommending it be disbanded. This was accepted by Cabinet. In July 1989 the State Computer Centre tansferred from Treasury to the newly created Department of Administrative Services.
