Agency:
Scottsdale and Ringarooma Public Hospitals District Board
Agency Number:
Start Date:
11 Jun 1929
End Date:
01 Jul 1990
Description:
Provide public hospital services in the municipalities of Scottsdale and Ringarooma and manage the Northeastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The Hospital had been intended to service both municipalities (see TGG 7 Dec 1920 pp.2496 and 2497) but had only serviced Scotsdale until reconstituted in 1929. The 1929 Order in Council was revoked 6 August 1968 by Statutory Rule No. 130 which reconstituted the District as Scottsdale/Ringarooma. In addition to Northeastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital the Board took over the management of the Gladstone and Ringarooma District Nursing Centres (previously managed by the Health Services Department). As an interim step in the re-organisation of the State's health services, the District Boards were replaced on 19 June 1990 by Regional Hospital Boards. Scottsdale/Ringarooma became part of Launceston "District".~
