Description:
The District was proclaimed on 6 September 1945 when the State Government resumed control of a hospital used by the military during the War. (It had previously been managed by Trustees.) On 20 August 1968 the St Paul's Ward of Fingal Municipality was added to the District and the Health Services Department transferred control of the Avoca, Rossarden and Storey's Creek District Nursing Centres to the Board (SR1968/139). As an interim step in the re-organisation of the State's health services the District Boards were replaced on 19 June 1990 by regional hospitals boards.
