Description:
An Order in Council dated 14 May 1953 removed the town of Rosebery from Zeehan and constituted it a separate District. In the late 1960s various proposals for the future of Zeehan Hospital were considered but in 1970 it was decided to close it. The Board met for the last time on 10 December. The hospital was transferred to the (private) Zeehan Medical Union, the local ambulance service was extended and public hospital services were provided through the Lyell District Hospital at Queenstown.~
