Description:
The District had originally been constituted as the Town of Ouse. It was extended in 1958 to cover the whole of Hamilton Municipality. The Order-in-Council making the change was never gazetted so the only date available is the election of members to the new Board. This has also resulted in terminological inconsistencies over the years in the description of the Board and District.~~ As an interim step in the reorganisation of the State's health services the Public Hospitals Districts were amalgamated into three regional groupings. On 19 June 1990 (SR1990/98) Ouse/Hamilton became part of the Hobart District.~~
