Shows whaler on horizon and four whaleboats around two captured whales in a blue sea.
Title is across upper edge in sky.
Brown paper stuck to verso, on which is a label 'C.H. Saunders 87 Bathurst Street Picture Frame Maker and Mount Cutter'.
Inscribed on verso in upper right area in Sir William Crowther's hand in ink is 'Ex Dono From Mrs. Edwards 5(?) Knopwood St This was the property of her G Grand Father ? ? in W? from Hobart Town. 24 ? 1957'.
Condition: Very white, slightly worn or rubbed at centre of right edge, brown paper on verso torn and peeling.
