History note:
A head and shoulders portrait of Richard Lewis, facing front. Richard Lewis was an auctioneer and merchant who arrived in Hobart Town in 1815. He founded a commercial and shipping business later known as R. Lewis & Sons.
Condition:
Condition Minor scratches, dents and chips to the frame. The gilt slip has minor dirt and the edges of the gilt are visible. Early glass has natural imperfections and minor spots. The paper support has minor lightened discolouration at the top and edges, minor foxing in the bottom right and minor silverfish damage centre right. Acidic backing board.
