Painting is based on the aquatint by W.J. Huggins entitled South Sea Whale Fishery (1834)
One of a series of four by Duke - The Chase, The Rounding and the Cutting In are the other titles.
Framed in contemporary gilt gesso liner.
Condition: Generally good.
Conservation: Restored by Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery November 1989.
