Summary:
On Thursday 24th February 2022, twelve-year-old Yeva Skalietska is woken by the sound of explosions. Though there have been rumblings and rumours, few truly believe that war will break out between Russia and Ukraine. And yet - it has. What follows are twelve days that will change Yeva's life forever. At first Yeva and her granny rush to take shelter from the missile attacks in a dusty, crowded basement. But when the situation around them worsens, they know they need to find somewhere safer to stay. This will mean they have to make some very hard decisions. Decisions which will mean leaving everything they know and love behind. Throughout it all, Yeva kept this diary - partly to document what was happening around her, and partly to give herself something to focus on as bombs rained down on her beloved home.
