Sketchbook includes one shipboard scene and several of icebergs. Also has twelve scenes of Hobart with titles inscribed in pencil.
Loose English sketches include some probably not by Mansfield. Subjects are Eastbourne school, Buxted rectory, Croydon church and other church buildings.

Sketchbook of scenes on voyage to and of Van Diemen's Land. Sketchbook is accompanied by eight loose pencil sketches of Hobart Town, one drawing of icebergs, and six English drawings. The loose sketches include views of Hobart Town, Mount Wellington from the Old Wharf, and the barracks, hospital and officers' quarters.
Condition:
Condition on accession: Paper cover worn, slight marks on leather. Accretion, some staining on pages. Some pages yellowing. Pages loose, have come away from cover.
